AI Traffic in BeamMP Multiplayer
Understand how AI vehicle spawning works in BeamMP multiplayer servers, avoid crashes, and configure your server correctly for smooth traffic simulation.
The Vehicle Cap
In BeamMP, every car you spawn counts as "yours." If you spawn AI, those cars count against your personal limit.
Most public servers have a cap of 1 car per player. If you try to spawn AI, BeamNG tries to create the cars, but BeamMP blocks it instantly, causing a crash or a kick.
To fix this on your own server, you must set the Max Cars in the Config tab to a higher number (e.g., 15).
The Spawning "Math"
BeamNG looks at every car currently on the map when you try to spawn traffic. This includes other players and their AI.
AI Traffic uses a crazy amount of resources. AI cars are processed by your computer's CPU, not the server. This can create massive lag on the client side even if the server is running perfectly.
- • Each AI car is a full physics object.
- • 16GB of RAM is minimum; 32GB is recommended.
- • High CPU usage will cause your FPS to drop.
- CPU Limits: Only spawn as many cars as your CPU can handle. Usually 5-8 is plenty for traffic.
- Vehicle Limit: Ensure your "Max Cars" setting is high enough for you AND your AI.
