Why use a Traffic Server for Drifting?

Using an AssettoServer (Traffic) setup for drifting is a hidden "pro tip" among top server hosts. Because these servers are built for open-world freedom, they offer major advantages over standard drift servers:

No "Wrong Way" Penalties

Traffic configurations naturally disable the annoying "Wrong Way" screen overlay and auto-teleport-to-pits. This allows you to drift backwards or do "manjis" on straight lines without interruption.

Total Performance

Disabling AI traffic instantly frees up massive CPU resources. This allows for higher player counts and significantly lower "CPU Occupancy" lag for all drivers.

How to Turn Off AI

Switching from traffic mode to drift mode only takes a single change in your configuration.

  1. Open Extra Settings

Log in to your AssettoHosting panel and navigate to the Extra Settings tab.

  2. Find the AI Toggle

Scroll or search for the following line:

    # Enable AI traffic - EnableAi: true

  3. Disable the Module

    Change true to false.

    EnableAi: false

Drift Configuration Tips

Tire Blankets

Ensure "Tire Blankets" are enabled in the Config tab. This allows drifters to have 100% grip from the second they leave the pits.

Track Surface

For drifting, set the track surface to "Old" or "Green" (95-97%) to reduce the mechanical grip and make it easier to slide.
